All your beauty needs for £1 and under?

Can you believe each product cost £1 or under?

If I'm not focusing on work, then you'll find me focusing on the art of buying cosmetics at an affordable price. Fortunately and unfortunately, I am one of those crazy girls you hear in the shops complaining of prices, well unless it is something I am desperate to try. (Yes Benefit, I'm looking at you!)

Although, I find it hard handing over a fair bit of money for one product, I am also skeptical of cheap cosmetics, and shops that sell cosmetics cheap. At one point I was even skeptical of Savers, then fell deeply in love with it and the affordable prices. So awhile back I thought about shops such as 'Poundland' and the '99p Store', I have seen many products in both that you can easily buy in drugstores such as Boots and Superdrugs. (Although I took a cheeky trip into Boots to get free products which is explained below :D)

So I thought for a £1 or less a product, isn't it worth a try?!

And the answer is YES!

I headed into my local Savers, Poundland and 99p Store, and took a good ol' mooch around. Surprisingly, a lot of people shop in these for cosmetics, especially the 99p store (use to be Family Bargains), so that made me feel more confident in purchasing from Poundland and the 99p Store.

Here is a few pictures of what I purchased, which was all for £1 and under. Some products only 60p!

The above picture, I purchased the items from the 99p Store and Savers. The Kleenex Facial Cloths were only 99p from the 99p Store of course. The Nairs Sensitive Hair Removal Cream cost me £1 from Savers and the cute box of tissues with flowers on cost me 60p from Savers.

The above picture, I purchased items from all three of the shops including Boots. I'll quickly explain the Boots purchases, which is the Soap and Glory Hand Food and the Toni&Guy Dry Shampoo. I picked these up for free with my trusty Boots advantage card, which I recommend for everyone all of ages and sex to get. I manage to get a good amount of points on my card just buy purchasing their meal deals, which are scrummy! And in return I get food and free cosmetics.

The Nivea Soft Rose Lip Balm and the Dead Sea Mineral Mud Masks were from Savers, the lip balm costing 80p and the mud mask only a £1 for two.  The Argan Oil Hair Mask was purchased at the 99p Store, for a whopping 99p. And the Rimmel Wake Me Up Shimmer Touch in Radiant Rose was from Poundland costing a lovely round £1.

Lastly, in the above photo, are three candles all purchased from the 99p store. I am a huge candle hoarder, I have way more than I need but I just love the smell of them and the nice, relaxed feeling you get when they are lit and everything is calm. I picked up two of the same style candle but in two different scents, the white one is called Luxurious Linen, I picked this one as it smells like freshly washed sheets, and I love that scent so much. The other scent is Fresh Cherries, which scent reminds me of the red skittles. And the last candle I purchased was a Mondo Bello Aromatherapy candle in Lavender and Amber, which smells divine when lit. As you can see in the picture, I've already used the candles. I couldn't help but light them straight away, especially as it's now hitting Winter time, these candles are the perfect scent for relaxing while cuddling up to the duvet in a onesie.

So overall, I worked out that it's definitely worthwhile taking a look in the cheap shops, you never know what you may find at an affordable price. I will be shopping in all of them again, especially for candles.

Have you been shopping in a cheap shop for cosmetics? If so, how did you find the products?

I hope all you lovelies are having a good week so far!

  2. YESSS, I've literally being telling people to go get there beauty things from poundshops for ages. It is really great for getting branded nail varnishes like Revlon aswell! Instead of shelling out £7 on a polish you could get some of last seasons stock for a pound. I didn't know they did such a range of stuff like shampoo and candles though!
Really great post, it has definitely inspired me ♥
